Q: Doesn’t Lee Seungchul feel like a ‘dad’?
TaeYeon: He’s really mild and kind so I feel comfortable around him.
SeoHyun: I thought there would be some trouble because of the song (So Nyuh Si Dae), but he treats us as if he is our dad or an uncle, so I am really thankful for that. I feel like I should treat him nicer.
Q: It looks like there are more adult fans.
Jessica: Since "So Nyuh Shi Dae" was a re-make song, a lot of people listen to it and are glad to hear the song. I think there are more fans that are in between their 30’s to 40’s now. More samchon (uncle) fans than before.
TaeYeon: When we had a fan signing event, there were a lot of males and I think the fans’ ages got more diverse. We have a lot of older people that come to see our performance now more than the ‘Into the New World’ days.
HyoYeon: When they (fans between 10’s to 20’s) gave us presents, they used to give us candies or crackers, but fans between 30’s to 40’s tell us to take good care of ourselves and gives us ginger teas.
Q: Don’t you guys want to wear more make-up and wear fancy outfits?
YoonA: We do, but for our age, the best thing we can do is show our image like we are right now. And I believe there will be more opportunities where we can wear more make-up or wear fancy clothes as we mature. So, the image we are currently showing, I guess you can say is a really simple image, but I think this is the best way to show ourselves.
TaeYeon: We suit the best in it, and we look more natural.
Tiffany: I like the fact that we don’t look awkward. Other people would feel comfortable when they look at us.
Jessica: Our wish is that people would enjoy our performances.
Q: So Nyuh Shi Dae (Girl’s Generation)
Tiffany: Yes, but we are more of like high school students. That we wear comfortable hoodies and sneakers without trying to decorate ourselves, and show a natural side and a bright side of us.
Q: Did you study a foreign language?
HyoYeon: Yes. I went to China for a year to study, so I can speak a little bit of Chinese.
Q: Dance skills.
YoonA: I’ve always enjoyed dancing, and I… Why are you laughing?! I’ve always enjoyed dancing, and I always participated in talent shows at school.
TaeYeon: I used to do that too.
YoonA: So, I’ve always enjoyed dancing.
^___^
TaeYeon: Since the beginning of November, we have been promoting a song called "Nyuh Shi Dae". We will keep showing our bright image, so please keep loving us. Right now it’s…
SNSD: So Nyuh Shi Dae!
^___^
Q: Your audition video is viewable in media right now.
YoonA: I went along with my friend to an open audition in grade 6, and got casted. An open audition is not a contest. Instead, they have an audition once a week at this office. You don’t have to apply to it, you can just audition if you come here. I was contestant number 1, I had number 1 on it. I’ve prepared a song and a dance move., so that’s how I came in here.
Q: Which song did you sing and which dance move did you dance?
YoonA: ㅋㅋㅋ
Q: You were even good back then.
YoonA: No. Now that I look back at it, I think I did better back then.
Q: You did well, so that’s how you got casted.
YoonA: No. Back then, I sang a song called "Bootakhaeyo (I Beg You). And for the dance, I just danced whatever. I didn’t dance a comic dance… There was a Britney Spears CD on my desk, so I just brought it with me and asked them to play any song. I didn’t put together choreography or anything, I just danced however to the music, and they liked how I did.
Q: Peculiar casting.
SeoHyun: Yes, I got casted when I was playing a game with my cousin on a subway.
Q: Your casting background was peculiar.
SeoHyun: Yes, my casting was peculiar. I was playing a game with my cousin, and a lady came up to me and asked what my name was. I was scared that she was going to scold me because a stranger was asking for my name. I didn’t answer the first time she asked. I ran away, but later I found out that she was an employee from SM that casted people.
Jessica: You can call that street casting.
SeoHyun: Yes, it’s road casting.
^___^
Q: Comparing Stephanie’s dance to yours. . .
HyoYeon: I think Stephanie unnie has her own way of dancing. She is sexy and her body is slim, but I am the opposite of that. My dance is powerful and I put more power into my dance. So, our style of dancing aren’t totally different but we have our own way of dancing, that’s why.
Q: Were you satisfied with MKMF dance battle?
HyoYeon: The dance battle was short, so I was satisfied with the expression and the dance battle itself. But I didn;t get a chance to practice as much for the performance with Stephanie. I even practiced tight before the perfomance. So I feel like I didn’t show half of my skills, so I regret that a lot, but if there is another performance like this, I want to sho all of my skills, because I couldn’t practice a lot.
Jessica: You have to show it one step a time. If you show everything you’ve got all at once, that is also …
Q: You didn’t receive MKMF Rookie of the Year Award.
TaeYeon: We’ve prepared for it a lot, and we looked forward to getting it, but everyone else is outstanding so, honestly, even to the last minute, we were very nervous and we looked forward to it, but I guess we weren’t good enough.
YoonA: But the fact that we had a chance to perform on that stage was an honor to us. We were a little greedy to receive that award, but…
TaeYeon: We were so happy.
YoonA: Yes, we were so happy. Even when we were watching the stage at the back. We were enjoing it as we were watching. We are going to try our best to receive another great award.
Q: How did it feel to be on the stage with other candidates?
Jessica: I think they each have their own individuality. Very clearly. The genres of music and the concepts were all different, so not only SNSD, but other teams showed their own individuality very well. I think we saw more of a diverse performance, rather that comparing the performances.
