MC TaeYeon: Today’s subject is the person who DJs the popular 친한 친구 Radio Show along with Kangin: TaeYeon. I already look forward to her amazing interview. Now let’s meet her.

TaeYeon: Hello, I am currently the DJ of 친한 친구, SNSD’s TaeYeon.

Q: It’s been six months since you started, what has changed since then?

TaeYeon: Well, firstly I think I’m getting a lot of experience and the fact that I can empathize with listeners is good. And also that I’m listening to a wide range of music is good too.

Q: What are the difficulties of being a Radio DJ?

TaeYeon: Since I don’t have the sole job of being a radio DJ, I have other scheduled things to attend, such as TV shows and variety shows so it was really hard to try and fit this with other live shows. Also, we’re a double DJ radio show, so it’s hard to match schedules with Kangin. Despite all that, we’re managing to somehow do a fun live radio show.

Q: Friends you would like to invite to 친한 친구?

TaeYeon: I want to invite all my school friends, some whom I still in contact now. But if they come on the show, it feels like everything is going to be reversed. Everyone puts us as rivals, but personally I’m friends with Sunye from Wonder Girls. We’re the same age, and I’ve even been to the same school with her. But I haven’t ever spent time with her like had a coffee or something like that, so I’d really like to invite her to our show and talk.

Q: Guests you would especially  like to invite to 친한 친구?

TaeYeon: Yes, I do… hehehe… They call him the president of music, I want to invite Seo Taiji sunbaenim. I don’t know if that’s possible, but yes… I heard the last time he came out to another radio show, the internet was down and it was chaos. But I want 친한 친구 to experience that sort of thing. Heheh…

Q: A sunbaenim you want to be like as a radio DJ?

TaeYeon: Even before I started to be a DJ I enjoyed listening to radio, so I was very nervous when I was asked to be a radio DJ. But my role model for being a DJ was Jung Sunghee sunbaenim. It was because of her humanistic conversations and her smooth way of DJing shows, and even as a listener I was very comfortable and relaxed with the way she did things. And also Bae Chulsoo sunbaenim, because he’s so talented and comfortable in radio.

What I should learn from looking at Kangin…

TaeYeon: He’s very quick to react and overflows with wit. And as this is a live show, there can be little mishaps when broadcasting. But he handles the situation so naturally and makes it more fun for the listeners through the mishaps. He has that talent of making people feel calm and relaxed in those situations. So when he plays jokes and pranks he is at those times a bit annoying, but when I see him in those situatuons I realize, "This is why he is a sunbaenim."

However, times when I need to be patient towards Kangin…

TaeYeon: Since his individual characteristics are very clear, he likes to do things very randomly like today. He randomly sang and from time to time doing things like that. As a DJ myself, I sometimes a bit surprised. But the fact that he matches me and follows me tells me that indeed we are a double DJ, and sometimes match his act as well.

친한 친구 to TaeYeon…

TaeYeon: That’s a question I need a lot of time to answer, hehe… "The Second TaeYeon" It’s a bit weird but that’s it. Well, because 친한 친구 has made me realize my dreams. Even though I’m the youngest Radio DJ, all the producers, writers, and staff trust me and help me realize those dreams by giving me the opportunity to talk with people. And through that, it makes me who I am today. That’s why 친한 친구 to me is like a brand new TaeYeon, a ’second TaeYeon’.

To 친한 친구 listeners…

TaeYeon: Kangin and I are currently broadcasting from 8pm to 10pm and a lot of students, people who are going to or leaving work, and even the moms at home are listening to our show. I would like to thank and ask them to keep showing us the love they have been showing us so far. I think radio is a more humanistic way of broadcasting. Don;t think less of us because we’re so young, heheh. We promise to keep producing more and more fun radio shows. Please keep loving 친한 친구 radio. Let’s be friend tomorrow. Goodbye…
